Most people consider their phone to be one of their most important possessions. We use our phones constantly to keep in contact with our friends and family and conduct business.
Having a phone that won’t charge can be very stressful. It is not only an inconvenience, but it can also cost you time, money, and if there is an emergency you may have no way to reach out. Here we will discuss what happens when your Huawei phone is not charging and how to fix it.
Huawei Phone Not Charging – How To Fix (9 TIPS)
1. Check That the Adapter is Plugged In
This may sound obvious, but we have all been there. Sometimes the plug falls out of the outlet or you may have forgotten to plug it in in the midst of a conversation.
- Pick up the wall adapter and locate the closest outlet to you.
- Plug the Adapter into the outlet.
- Ensure that the charging wire is connected to the adapter, and make sure it is plugged into your phone at the other end.
2. Make Sure the Charging Port is Clean
The charging ports on phones can get very nasty. The phone is put into your pocket or your bag and can collect dust, dirt, lint, and other foreign materials.
- Unplug any wires and ensure that your Huawei phone is off.
- Use a light to check the charging port of your phone for any foreign materials.
- If you see anything in the charging port, use a round-tip toothpick to gently remove it.
- If you do not see any foreign materials you can use compressed air to ensure there is no dust or dirt left.
3. Restart Your Phone
If the hardware is clean and you know your charger is in good working order it may be time to restart your phone.
Unplug the charging wire.
- To restart your phone, start by holding down the power button.
- Hold the power button down until your phone powers off and then powers back on.
- Another option to restart your phone is simply to power it off by holding the power button until it turns off and then leaving it off for a moment.
- Plug the Charging wire back into the phone.
- Turn your phone back on.
4. Ensure the Charging Wire Is In Good Condition
If your charging wire is damaged it may not work properly. It could also lead to dangerous conditions. A broken or frayed charging wire can be a fire hazard. You could also run the risk of electrocution, of yourself or someone else.
- Unplug the charging wire from both the adapter and the phone.
- Look over the charging wire carefully from one end to the other.
- Check for frays, bends, dents, or other abnormalities in the charging wire.
- If there are any abnormalities in the wire then try a different one.
5. Reset Your Phone After A Software Update
If your phone has recently had a software update there is a possibility that it needs to be reset to complete the installation.
Clear the cache data from the phone.
To clear the cache data, go to the settings menu of your phone and choose the “Applications” option.
- Choose “Manage Applications”.
- Choose the “All” option.
- Check each application one by one.
- Once all of the applications have been checked, select “Clear Cache”
- Now restart your phone by holding down the power button.
6. Try A Different Power Supply
If you have checked the phone, the wire, and the wall adapter and it is all in working order, the next step is to check the power supply.
- Remove the charging wire from your phone.
- Unplug the wall adapter from the outlet you already had it in.
- Find another outlet, preferably in another room or on another breaker.
- Plug the wall adapter into a new outlet.
- Plug the charging wire back into your Huawei phone.
- If your phone starts to charge then you are all set.
- If it does not charge, then the adapter itself may need replacing.
- Remove the charging wire from the phone.
- Remove the adapter from the wall.
- Unplug the charging wire from the adapter.
- Get a new adapter and plug it into the wall.
- Plug the charging wire into the new adapter.
- Plug the other end of the charging wire into the phone.
7. Turn Your Phone Off
Certain applications can drain your battery faster than it can charge. In these cases, it may be helpful to leave your phone off to allow it to charge properly.
Find the power button on your phone.
Hold the power button down until the screen goes dark and the phone is off.
Once the phone is off, you can plug the charging wire into the phone. Your Huawei phone should either show a charging icon on the screen, or there will be an indicator light.
8. Close All Running Applications
Having many applications running in the background can drain a battery faster than it can charge. If this is happening, your phone may not charge properly. Close all the background applications to see if that helps the phone to start charging.
- Press and hold down the menu key.
- Press down on the application.
- Choose “App Info”
- Choose the “Force Stop” option.
- When prompted, choose the “Ok” option.
- Do this for each running application.
- Close the menu, then plug the phone charging wire into your phones charging port.
