If your iPhone X has no service, it deems your smartphone almost useless.
Fortunately, there are some simple DIY fixes you can try yourself which will fix the iPhone X no service issue.
Below you will find 9 different fixes arranged from what works the best down to the least likely. These tips will also work for iPhone Xs, iPhone Max and iPhone XR models.
Lets begin!
iPhone X No Service – How To Fix (9 TIPS)
1. Restart Your iPhone X
When any glitch occurs on an iPhone X, the first thing you should always do is to simply restart the device. 90% of the time it is just a temporary glitch in the software causing the problem that has to be restarted just like a computer.
To restart your iPhone, first press the volume up button for 1 second, then do the same for the volume down button. Once done, then click and hold onto the power button for at least 15 seconds to restart your iPhone.
This should hopefully remove the iPhone X no service glitch.
2. Toggle Mobile Data Off/On
Another very successful method to reagin service on your iPhone is to toggle cellar off and then on. If you have travelled through a service dead spot, your iPhone X may have trouble regaining a successful connection.
Some causes might be travelling though a rural town with no service, in a basement carpark, on a flight or similar situations.
To access cellular settings, you can do this by going to Settings > Mobile > Mobile Data. Simply turn this off for about 20 seconds then turn it back on. Alternatively, slide up from the bottom of the screen for the control centre and do the same with the antenna icon.
This should hopefully regain your service and also 4G or even 5G coverage.
3. Check Aeroplane Mode Is Turned Off
Without you even knowing, you may have accidentally activated airplane mode which will result in your iPhone X having no service of 4G data.
To ensure it is turned off, go to Settings > Aeroplane Mode > Turn Off. You can also access this same setting in the control centre of your iPhone X.
For a bonus step, you can also toggle Aeroplane mode off and on 5-10 times as this has also had some success with iPhone X users.
4. Reset Network Settings
If you have still not had any luck with the above fixes, you can then try and reset your network settings. This is done as there may be a technical issue with your service provider which may have to be reset on your end.
To reset your iPhone X’s networking settings, you can do this by going into Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This should hopefully fix the iPhone X no service issue. If it did, let me know down below in the comments!
5. Reinsert The Sim Card
Another great solution to remedy the no service problem is to actually remove your sim card tray, remove your sim card, place it back in the tray, then reinsert it back into your iPhone X.
This is done as if you have dropped your iPhone X, sometimes the sim card might actually get slightly dislodged which will result in a bad connection.
If you can’t find your sim card tool, I find a safety pins works just as well.
6. Check For iOS Updates
If you are running on an older version of iOS, this may cause your iPhone X to have service and connection issues. To check for an update, you can do this by going into Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install.
It is also recommended to check for any network updates from your service provider which can also be found in the same area which will be under “Carrier”. Also, if there are any available updates, they will be signified by a red circle.
7. Remove Your iPhone X Case
While this fix is mainly used for older iPhone models, it does still apply to some iPhone X devices. As the iPhone X antenna is on the outside band of the iPhone, it can sometimes become blocked by some iPhone X cases.
To see if this is the issue, simply remove your case and then restart your iPhone. If service does come back, then it is safe to assume that your case might be the problem.
8. Reset iPhone X Settings
If the iPhone X no service glitch still persists, it may be worth resting your iPhones settings. This isn’t an iPhone factory reset, so you won’t loose any data or photos. However, you will lose your personal settings that you may have applied.
To reset the iPhone X settings, this can be done by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. You will then have to put in your pin code to authorise the reset.
Beware not to accidentally choose “Erase All Content and Settings” as you will lose all saved apps, photos and contacts on your iPhone X.
9. Check Your Mobile Coverage/ Area
By now you should hopefully have service back on your iPhone. If you don’t, it is either your service provider that may have dropped out or you have a faulty iPhone X.
To see if it is your service provider, you can go to websites like this one that show outages and network dead spots.
If this issue continues, it may be worth going into your local Apple store as your iPhone X might still be under the included Apple warranty.
