iPhone signal and service problems how to fix
After having some problems with my iPhone signal dropping out I thought I would inquire on the Internet to find some solutions. Here is a list of of iPhone no signal solutions and steps that will hopefully fix your no signal problem. None of these are in particular order of what works the best so try some out and comment below on how you went.
iPhone no signal or service problems and solutions #1
A simple fix for iPhone no signal is to simply restart the iPhone. Hold the power switch and home button together for 10 seconds. This is done in case you went into any signal dead areas, sometimes the iPhone will think it is still in the location where there is no signal and does not update the signal strength. This will restart your iPhone but you will not lose any media, contacts, data, etc.

This problem is widely known by iPhone4 owners as the notorious signal drop out caused by holding the iPhone antenna firmly. This is a design flaw on Apples behalf as when your holding the iPhone firmly it completes part of the antenna circuit through your hand and causes the signal to drop. The black lines that separate the aluminium antenna is meant to prevent this but can be problematic. The simplest way to bypass this is to use a iPhone case or bumper so that your hand does not touch the actual antenna.

According to a post by iphonehacks a sim card tray issue may be causing complete signal drop off, partial drop off and slow download speeds. “The metal part of the sim card is not centered and is contacting the sim tray. The sim tray is steel and the sim tray is contacting the outer antenna band. Once you touch the phone, this could be causing a sim issue. If when you touch the antenna line on the lower left it changes the state of frequency, power or what ever, it might actually be messing with the sim card. The metal on the sim is connected to the sim tray, the sim tray is connected to the antenae and the antenae is connected to your hand when you touch the phone. Take a look at your sim card and see if the metal is just off center enough to touch the tray.”
iPhone no signal solutions #4
This solution applies to those who use iPhone cases. After receiving my latest batch of iPhone cases (yes I have a serious problem when it comes to collecting iPhone cases) I noticed that when I was swapping between cases my signal strength would vary as well. After trying on different cases it was apparent that only 1 certain type was causing signal drop off issue. As pictured on the left it is the hard plastic cases that grasp tightly to the sides of the iPhone that cause the signal antenna problem. If so try and swap your case to a rubber / silicon case.

I have seen this one come up on a couple of blogs and that is to put your iPhone in a empty glass, yup very strange. For some reason if you are in a place with no signal restaurant, cinemas, pub or a bunker it is recommended to place your iPhone in a empty glass. Mind you though you will have to leave your iPhone in there for the duration of your stay for it to work.

Last but not least our best friends the service provider, not all service providers were made equal so you may have to inquire to change if you are having continuous signal drop outs, slow or no 3G and dead signal areas. It is good to call up to see if there is any antenna tower maintenance that may be causing a temporary issue with the signal strength of your iPhone.
If any of these solutions have helped or if you have any other iPhone no signal solutions please share your thoughts below.
