No sound coming from my iPhone

No sound coming from my iPhone

If you have no sound coming from your iPhone it is unbelievably frustrating as you most probably already know. I have been looking for solutions, cures, fixes over the web there are many out there, below you will find a list of  some of the solutions.

The symptoms of iPhone no sound Problem/ Issues include:
- iPhone will ring but speaker will not work for anything else.
- iPhone no sound at all for calls, apps, music etc
- iPhone no sound as stuck in headphone mode
Follow these steps and hopefully your iPhone will be back to its prior glory.

iPhone No Sound Step 1,

Loud/ Silent switch on exterior of iPhone is switched to silent mode which is orange. If so flick the other way to loud mode. This is a step that so many people miss, but it is the most simplest.

iPhone No Sound Step 2,

Restart the iPhone. Hold the power switch and home button together for 10 seconds. This will restart your iPhone, you wil not lose any media, contacts, data, etc. If there is a temporary glitch on the iPhone this will eliminate that glitch.

iPhone No Sound Step 3,

Reset iPhone. Go to settings> general> reset> reset all settings. This will not loose any data, media contacts etc. This is a follow on to step 2 and another way you will be able to eliminate the glitch on the iPhone.

If none of these steps were helpful you can see the full list here from my other page iPhone No Sound.

iPhone No Sound step 4,

iphone no sound

This seems to be a growing glitch on the iPhone that is causing no sounds problems. To eliminate this glitch go into settings then put air plane mode on for about 5 minutes. After that is done toggle air plane mode on and off for 1 minute. Then restart the iPhone by pressing the home and power button at the same time for 10 seconds.

All you have to do is to start playing a song from ipod or youtube while having your earphones pluged in, than plug your charger cable in and remove headphones.

press play again and remove charger cable.

Repeat if is not working firs time.

I had same problem. it’s stuck in charger mode or in docking station with external audio.

    Thank you, Mary.

I couldn’t play music on my iPhone4s for months and tried everything on the web to correct it. Your solution worked! Yay, Mary!!

Hay thanks a lot for the idea.
But the funny thing is that i have already tried resetting the phone from the settings. it works but after 4 days, the same problem again. sound goes off.

Do you suggest that it is a hardware problem? I think not, as the phone bell is working.

So then i think that the problem should be in the software. Please guide me for the same.

    Thank You

I don’t agree that he Reset all settings choice does not change anything on your phone. You WILL lose you wallpaper pic. You Will lose your wifi passcode and have to re enter it. It’s a 20 character chain and it’s a pain to find if you don’t have it handy. If it is in all Caps like mine you’ll have to hit the cap button every time. So count in 40 characters. If you have to enter it 3 times due to mistakes count in 120 characters.

With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any issues of plagorism
or copyright violation? My website has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either written myself or
outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my authorization.
Do you know any ways to help protect against content from being ripped
    off? I’d genuinely appreciate it.

None of the options above worked and neither did Mary’s. Last week I was on FaceTime withy friends and accidently dropped my phone in some soup. A couple hours later my sound went and I couldn’t turn it up or down because when u pressed the buttons it didn’t even say u was doing anything. I left it for the night and worked fine until today and it’s been broken all day. My lower sound button has been pressed down for a while so u can’t press it because it’s kind of pushed down into my phone a bit. I don’t know if it has anything to do with that. Advise?

Nothing above worked, including Mary’s solution (sorry Mary). I still have the IPhone 4 with IOS 7.

However, I did find if I slide the control screen up (swipe bottom to top) that right below the volume bar is a small box with an up arrow on it.. I clicked on that and noticed the software was trying to send the audio to what appears to be a blue tooth device (don’t have one nearby, so confused on that). I selected the IPhone option and sound was restored.

    Maybe that might help some.

Having scouted about the web, the most common reason for sound loss and phone behaving like it was docked was a faulty docking connector. I ordered one for around £4 and a mini toolkit for £6. The job took me a careful hour and half although it felt like a lifetime. Job done and instant success. Shop would have charged around £60. Real cost to me £4 since I can reuse the tools. Instant success. Thanks to all those who pointed me in the right direction.

Just to emphasise my last post. The main reason for loss of sound, switching to docking mode and heavy battery loss is due to a faulty docking connector. It is a common fault on the iPhone. Some say cleaning the connector with a toothbrush helps. Personal experience proved this doesn’t help. The only solution is to get it changed!
